PT Pelita Samudera Shipping Tbk Successfully Secured a 5 year Contract Worth US$39 Million for Coal Transport Services

PT Pelita Samudera Shipping Tbk (“The Company”, IDX code: PSSI) started in 2018 with securing a 5-year contract from PT Jembayan Muarabara (Sakari Resources Group), a coal mining company that is part of PTT Thailand’s business group. The US$39 million contract was obtained through a tender related to the transport of coal from the Mahakam Terminal, Kutai, East Kalimantan to PT Paiton Energy in Probolinggo, East Java, which is one of the largest power plants in Indonesia. The contract was signed on January 26, 2018 by the President Director of the Company, Iriawan Ibarat and President Director of PT Jembayan Muarabara, Sudasi Harsono in Jakarta.

The US$39 million contract adds a three-year transhipment barging contract that has been announced in January 2018 of US$18 million. Thus, the total contract that has been achieved by the Company from PT. Jembayan Muarabara amounted to US$57 million with total tonnage of 11 million in the period of 3 to 5 years.

The Company is optimistic that the double-digit growth targeted in 2018 will be achieved, as it did in 2017 where the Company posted revenue growth of approximately 34% higher than 2016.
